The ##ttmpGAttributeX Table Could Not Initialize Bulk Insert Object Error

Description

Are you not able to check in a diagram with the following error or similar?

Error details

Error: The ##ttmpGAttribute5 table could not initialize bulk insert.

This problem occurs when the registry value that the application uses to work with database “TMP” files is not the same as what the database actually used. This registry value is a number – in this example, “5” as seen after the word “Diagram” in this actual error text “## tmpCtl table could not initialize bulk insert”. The number will vary from case to case but the workaround is the same.

Steps To Fix This

First please make sure that all users are logged out of the Repository.

  1. Please examine the Repository database. Within the database there is Stored Procedure named “Create_Temp_Tables”. Examine this stored procedure. Within this stored procedure you will find a series of  CREATE TABLE statements such as:
    • CREATE TABLE ##tmpAlgorithm_Property13
  2. You will note that the table names in all of these CREATE TABLE statements end with a number. For example, in the previous statement the number is 13. Make a note of the number that is used in your stored procedure.
SQL query
  1. Please go to the machine that the Repository Application Server is running on. Please stop the following 3 Windows services on that machine:
  • Idera Repository Communication Server
  • Idera Repository Database Server
  • Idera Repository Event and Dispatch Server
Repository Application Server
  1. Please run the program “regedit” on the machine that the  Repository Application Service is installed on. To run this program, select “Start > Run” and Open: regedit.
  2. In the Registry editor, please select the following key:
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Idera\Repository\Database
    • When you select this key on the right hand side you should see an entry named “TmpTableSuffix”. Please ensure that the value of this key is set to that which you retrieved in Step (2). For this example, I would set it to 13. Exit the registry editor.
Registry editor
  1. Start the 3 Repository Windows Services listed in Step (3).
  2. Login to the repository and perform repository operation again.
