Description
If you change Max Entity Name Length on Tools > Options > Logical it will change to 1 as soon as you click on OK. This is not a visual issue since it will hinder your capability of creating a new Entity, and you will not be able to name it due limitations:
Symptoms
Unable to change Max Entity Name Length.
Unable to create Entities due name length limitation.
Root Cause
This is a regression issue that appeared on Data Architect v19.X, it was already fixed on v20, I will be listing a few workarounds on the below section.
Steps to Fix This
Workaround 1: Max Entity Name Length is a global setting which applies to every diagram you work on Data Architect, although if you right-click on the Logical Model and select Model Options, you will find the same option only you will be able to change it overriding the one setup before.
Workaround 2: Open the Registry Editor and go to Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Idera\ER/Studio Data Architect 19.3\Model, then look for UserDefinedNameLengthMax and change it for the desired value selecting Base Decimal.
Recommended solution: Upgrade your Data Architect to v20, this bug was fixed on the first release of that version under the ID ERS-29915.
