Diagram Freezes But The Rest Of The App Remains Responsive

Description

The canvas where the models are designed freezes but the rest of the app remains responsive. These are some of the actions that have caused this issue:

• Sudden changes on zoom.
• Sudden model switching.
• Sudden scrolling inside canvas.

Symptoms

• You are unable to interact with the canvas.
• You can interact with other functionalities.

Root Cause 

Currently, this issue is still under investigation, the ID ERS-31117. There are some updates from the development team which describe that shadows might be overloading the canvas and it causes the diagram to freeze. 

In the section below you will see a few workarounds that we currently have to solve this issue.

Steps to Fix This

1. Workaround 1: You can reboot the application, after reopening it you will see that the canvas is responsive again.
2. Workaround 2: Change Model Tree size, you can modify this by putting the cursor on the separator between sections just like any other window, once performed the canvas will refresh.
3. Workaround 3: Go to Tools > Options > Display and uncheck Shadow from Model Display section, this has proved useful to avoid the issue although it will remove entirely the visual aspect of the tool.

If this does not work, please upgrade to Data Architect 20.3.1 which has a fix for several known issue (Including ERS-31117).
