In some situations, like when generating a physical model, running the Compare and Merge, or launching the Datatype Mapping editor causes the product to crash and close.
Our investigation has found that when using Custom Datatypes or making modification to the DatatypeMappings_SystemDefault.xml inside of the DatatypesMapping folder (By default this folder is stored in the C:\ProgramData\Idera\ERStudioDA_19.3\DatatypeMappings directory) corruption can happen on the xml file, causing a crash.
The easiest way to fix this is to restore the original Datatype Mappings file by reinstalling the product.
A second workaround is to manually delete the Datatype Mappings file and replace it with the default one. This file can be provided either by Support or by a Colleague. Once you have it, here are the steps to follow:
If you are able to identify that this is happening to a single database platform, then the problem is with only the code for that DB platform datatypes with the DatatypeMappings_SystemDefault.xml file. You could potentially replace this segment of code with the same one from the default file and not lose the rest of the custom datatypes you created.
